THE STORY OF US
CELEBRATING WEST VIRGINIA

Coal Valley Bun Works is more than it seems. It’s the story of two people from West Virginia who grew up with strong family roots, wandered out into the world, and found their way back home and to each other. We are Kevin and Carrie Copley. We met a long time ago, took separate paths, led different lives and then reconnected 25 years later. This time, the timing was right.
Both of us were raised to believe in hard work, community, and the kind of connection that brings people together. Those values are baked into everything we do here. Kevin spent three decades as an educator, shaping lives and giving back to the next generation. Carrie built a career in strategy and storytelling. She has traded in her academic PhD for another title "Perfector of Hot Dogs". Together, we decided it was finally our shot to create something that honors where we come from and feeds the people who make this place home. Coal Valley Bun Works was born.
Our menu is simple, but it’s the kind of simple that matters. West Virginia hot dogs with sauce and slaw, pepperoni rolls that taste like home, and other goodies that carry a piece of our history in every bite. They’re the foods these communities made, the ones that still show up at picnics, tailgates and back yard cookouts, the ones that still bring people to the table.
Coal Valley Bun Works is built on love for Appalachia, for our community, and for the people who walk through our doors. When you support us, you’re not just buying a pepperoni roll or a hot dog. You’re helping carry forward a story that started a long time ago and is finally being told the way it was meant to be.

I know good WV hotdog sauce. I was fully prepared to have a good experience and a tasty hotdog. What I didn't know was that the homemade sauce at Coal Valley would be next level and off the charts good! 10/10 would recommend for sure.

Great people. Great food. You can feel the love and care that has gone into this place. As an honorary, West Virginian, I'll be making the drive from Canada more than once!

I had the good fortune of previewing the secret hotdog sauce. Get ready to be talking about it for weeks. It's pretty darn good. (Those beans aren't too bad either.)
